First meeting of released workers from Cegielski factory organized by Workers' Initiative took place. The meeting gathered 40 of 500 released workers. The Committee of Unemployed Workers of HCP was formed. The first action of the Committee is going to be a rally in front of the seat of HCP management on Friday, 20th of November 2009, demanding payment of wage arrears and severance package. Weeks ago the management after massive layoffs announced that all dismissed workers were going to receive their money on November 10. The promise turned out to be empty – none got a penny.

At the end of the meeting unemployed proposed to visit the boss of HCP, Jaroslaw Lazurko. More than 50 people showed up in his office, accompanied by the local media. Lazurko declared that the wage arrears and severance package is going to be paid only before Christmas. Unemployed were outraged. One woman complained that the boss promised to not fire lonely mothers, but at the end of the day many of them were fired and today they are deprived of basic livelihood for their families.

At the meeting of the Committee a declaration of unemployed workers were released to the media, expressing their outrage about not keeping to the deadline for the payment by the management, lack of alternative job offers, lack of descent training they can be offered by job office, extremely difficult situation of women, older workers and those who are not from Poznan, as they are not able to find any job. All realeased workers are not supported by anything but half yearly unemployment benefit.
